Using Firefox Plugins in Flock

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

After you installed Flock you might want Flock does the same thing like Firefox. Watching videos on YouTube or playing Java games in your Flock browser. To do this is very simple, you only have to make a symlink to those Firefox's plugins.

$ cd /opt/flock/plugins/
$ ln -s /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/* .

Ok, to test whether Flash plugin already installed go to YouTube and find a video to watch.

Next step is installing Java applets plugin (using Java 6 OpenJDK).

$ cd /opt/flock/plugins/
$ locate gcjwebplugin.so
$ ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/i386/gcjwebplugin.so .

If you want to use Java 6 Sun:

$ cd /opt/flock/plugins/
$ ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so .

Restart your browser and click this link to test Java applets.

What about Firefox's addons? Most of them also works in Flock.
